Gladys Ellen Clark, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Gladys was born September 5, 1939, in Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford Chester and Rose Ellen (Houser) Page. She was raised in Red Oak where she attended school. She lived all of her life in Red Oak, Iowa. Gladys was united in marriage to Virgil Clark on September 14, 1959, in Red Oak, Iowa. Over the years, Gladys worked for Uniroyal, Sew-n-Sew, All About Flowers and Gifts, and did sewing alterations. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, baking, fishing, taking vacations with family, dancing with her sisters, knitting, crocheting, playing cards, and spending time with family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Virgil Clark in 2006; grandson: Tyler Rutherford; and sisters and brothers: Florence Archer, Marjorie Archer, Viola Page, Fayetta Cassidy, Jo Ann Hawker, Mary Ross, Shirley Snyder, Levi "Pete" Page, Chester Page, Frank "Bud" Page, and Johnny Page. Survivors include her children: Joseph Virgil Clark of Red Oak, IA; Curtis Clark and wife Angie of Stanton, IA; and Sheryl Clark of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Daniel Clark of Ankeny, IA; Benjamin Clark of Rogers, AR; Jenilee Clark of Rogers, AR; Adam Clark of Ft. Dodge, IA; Sarah Clark of Story City, IA; Stephanie Bahr and husband Dan of Mason City, IA Dustin Rutherford and wife Bri of Guthrie Center, IA; and Wyatt Rutherford and wife Melissa of Guthrie Center, IA; great grandchildren: Addison Clark, Oliver Schoff, Olivia Bahr, Ella Bahr, Aubrey Bahr, Hux Rutherford, and Cru Rutherford; sister-in-law: Elsie Nelson and husband Carol of Owatonna, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, May 5, 2023, at the First Covenant Church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, May 4, 2023, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Covenant Church.
