Birthplace: Gresham, NE Resided In: Red Oak, IA Geraldine Faye "Jeri" Bishop, age 95, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away, Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society. She was born August 5, 1917 in Gresham, Nebraska the daughter of Eugene Emerson and Edna (Sisty) Berryhill. She graduated from Gresham High School and later moved to Red Oak, Iowa where she met Earl Bishop. They were united in marriage on October 28, 1947. They farmed on the Bishop family farm for many years until moving into Red Oak in 1969. Jeri loved her family dearly. She was dedicated to keeping up with what her kids and their children were doing and especially enjoyed family get togethers. When each grandchild was born, she made a personalized quilted and embroidered blanket for them. She also had a passion for researching family genealogy. Jeri had a heart for people. This was evident in the handwritten Christmas cards that would arrive to many family and friends, always the day after Thanksgiving. Jeri attended Grace Baptist Church and was very active in the church's activities. She especially enjoyed the times when missionaries would come to church. Jeri enjoyed embroidering dish towels, working word puzzles and playing Dominos. At the age of 90, she received ribbons at the Iowa State Fair for her embroidered tea towels. Jeri was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Earl on June 15, 2008 and her brother: Lyle Berryhill and his wife Mary Jo. Survivors include her children: Pastor Gene Bishop and wife Alice of Lynch, NE; Carroll Bishop and wife Norma of Pella, IA; Bryan Bishop and wife Marci of Red Oak, IA; and Jane Cruchelow and husband Carl of Mingo, IA; grandchildren: Donetta Cole and husband Andy of Spokane, WA; Michelle Yoder and husband Calvin of Garden City, MO; Timothy Bishop and wife Jennifer of LaVista, NE; Aaron Bishop and wife Becky of Greenville, SC; Mikaela Bishop of Garden City, MO; Barry Bishop and wife Jana of Claremont, CA; Brad Bishop and wife Johanna of Denver, CO; Tina Bishop and Nathan Beach of Grinnell, IA; Courtney Pennock and husband Todd of Elliott, IA; Andre Shipley of Red Oak, IA; Deana Vande Kemp and husband John of Cambridge, IL; Darren Cruchelow of Mingo, IA; Andrea Cole and husband Chris of Van Cleave, MS; and Mary Dawson of Pleasantville, IA; great grandchildren: Micah, Karissa, and Aaryn Cole; Wes Yoder and wife Kate; Gwen Meeks and husband Chris; Mindy Yoder; Cindy Yoder; Ethan and Evan Bishop; Kaleb and Emma Bishop; Cameron Ellyson; Rowan Bishop, Brynn Bishop-Beach; Haylee and Whitney Pennock; Jana and Leah Vande Kemp; Megan and Connor Cole; Andrew Davis; and Caylie and Addison Dawson; great great grandchildren Ellie and Matthew Yoder; and Jacqui, Cameron, and Jillian Meeks; brother-in-law: Rev. George Bishop and wife Shirley of Marion, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in rural Montgomery County. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Grace Baptist Church or Iowa Hospice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
