Obituary

Birthplace: Mills County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Geneva M. Burnison, age 86, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Geneva Maxine Shook Burnison was born May 29, 1920 in Mills County, Iowa the daughter of Glen and Lula (Liston) Shook. She attended country school in Emerson and the family moved to Red Oak in 1946. Geneva stayed home and took care of her mother until she passed away in 1954. Geneva then went to work for the Thomas D. Murphy Company in September of 1955 and retired in 1982. She was united in marriage to Richard Burnison in March of 1982. Geneva was a member of the 15-20 year club at Murphy Company. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Richard Burnison; and brother: Bill Shook. Survivors include her brother: Dean Shook of Halfway, Missouri; niece: Glenda; nephew: Rick; sister-in-law: Arlene Burnison of Shenandoah, Iowa; special companion: Herald Wiltshire of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Shultz officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
