Gayle Lee Rolofson, age 75, of Hopkins, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Gayle was born May 30, 1948, in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Warren and Dixie (Barnett) Rolofson. He was raised in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak Community High School in 1966. He attended college at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville before enlisting in the United States Army. He then returned to Red Oak where he bartended for Ron's Tavern, Lazy J, and Red Oak Tap. He was united in marriage to Marsha Petersen Nickolaison and later Micki Wallace. Gayle worked for many years at Union Carbide and moved to Maryville in 1978, also working for Union Carbide. Gayle also graduated from Bellevue University where he studied business. He retired in 1996 under the Energizer brand. He also owned and operated JT Pete's Bar in Maryville and wintered in Mims, Florida. He worked part-time for Daytona Speedway and for several cruise lines while in Florida. Gayle always maintained his home in Maryville where he owned and managed real estate as well. Gayle also, drove a school bus for Northeast Nodaway School District. He enjoyed this very much. He was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan, enjoyed riding his Harley, played golf, watched western movies, and in his younger days played softball on the Red Oak Merchants team. Gayle was a long-time member of the American Legion Post #100 in Maryville, Missouri. He served in many capacities within the organization throughout the years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother-in-law: Eugene Roof; and niece: Jana Rolofson. Survivors include his children: Lynn Sundberg and fiancé Macon Tunstall of Creedmoor, NC; Mike Nickolaison and wife Marni of St. Louis, MO; Jeremy Rolofson of Shawnee Mission, KS; Terra Bosley and husband Chad of Maryville, MO; Tasha Rolofson of Des Moines, IA; and Pete Rolofson and wife Bess of Athens, AL; grandchildren: Jaeden, Jolaine, Sethan, and Suzette Rolofson; Savanna, Ashley, Grayson, and Drake Nickolaison; Colin, Gwen, and Sylvia Rolofson; Mikayela Heath; Ryan Carter; and Triston Sherlock; great grandchildren: Asher Sherlock; Saige Heath; Naomi Carter; and Delilah Lowery; siblings: Dean Rolofson and wife Patty of Tarkio, MO; Linda Roof of Watauga, TX; Danny Rolofson and wife Joni of Red Oak, IA; Carey Rolofson and wife Lindy of Platte City, MO; and Steve Rolofson and wife Angie of Surfside Beach, SC; many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 1995 G Ave., in Red Oak. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, December 29, 2023, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #100 in Maryville, Missouri.
