Birthplace: Mills County, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA formerly Henderson, IA Fred Elmer Sowers, age 90, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly Henderson, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Fred was born October 4, 1929 in Mills County, Iowa, the son of Glen and Edith (Rumsey) Sowers. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1947 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He came home to farm his entire life. He also raised livestock. Fred always loved going to livestock sales and horses. He was a member of the Henderson American Legion for many years. Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers: Carroll and Lee. Survivors include his brothers: Bryan Sowers of Henderson, IA and Donald Sowers and wife Mary Frances of Henderson, IA; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Mills County, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, November 11, 2019 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
