Obituary

Fred Pilecki, age 77, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Fred was born January 5, 1949, in Highland Park, Michigan, the son of Joseph and Emma (Edwards) Pilecki. He was raised in Highland Park where he graduated high school in 1967. Over the years, he was an accountant for the Highland Park Hospital and Fireman while in Michigan. Fred was united in marriage to Claudia Sell on June 1, 1975, in Highland Park, Michigan and later divorced. He was united in marriage to Pam Hunt on May 15, 1982, in Sioux City, Iowa. While in Sioux City, Fred drove a cab and worked for Goodwill eventually becoming vice-president. In 1997, Fred started his journey in the ministry. He attended seminary and was placed at the First United Methodist Church in Malvern and Strahan, Iowa as his first charge. Fred moved to the Mapleton/Ticonic church where he served for many years. Fred’s wife, Pam, passed away in 2007, and Fred was reunited with his first wife Claudia. They were married December 1, 2007, in Mapleton, Iowa. Fred and Claudia were transferred to First United Methodist Church in Red Oak where Fred retired in 2016. After retirement, he went back to work as a driver for SWITA, the Red Oak Greenhouse, and Arrow Bus Lines. Through the years, Fred was involved in many organizations including Kiwanis, Lions, Masonic Lodge, Promise Keepers, Walk to Emmaus, Montgomery County Memorial Court of Honor, Chaplain for law enforcement in Montgomery County, Red Oak City Council, a former Gideon, was a “Friend To Bill”, and was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton, Iowa.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife: Pam Pilecki; son: Scott Pilecki; and brother: Mark Pilecki. Survivors include his wife: Claudia Pilecki of Red Oak; daughters: Angela Baier of Red Oak; Melody Pilecki and significant other Jimmy Parekh of Renton, Washington; and Carrie Baker-Komindo and husband Jeremy of Pleasant Lake, Michigan; grandchildren: Zoey, Callie, Mya, Brenna, Adam, Emily, and Levi; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Jeremiah, and Daphne; brother: Richard Pilecki and wife Ginny; twin sisters: Darlene McClelland and Arlene Willoughby and husband Ken; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of death service will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 19, 2026, at LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with fellowship to follow.
