Obituary

Fred Allen Hossle, age 64, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Fred was born September 30, 1957 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Max and Gwen (Ross) Hossle. He was raised in Red Oak graduating from Red Oak High School in 1975. While in high school, Fred worked for Mace and Hahn Implement, farmed, and later drove truck for Dwaine Long. He was united in marriage to Teresa Wagaman on June 12, 1976 in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived and farmed their whole married life south of Red Oak. Fred and his grandson Clay also own a calf/cow herd together. Fred was very proud of Hossle Farms, the family, and have their own logo. Fred was a member of First Christian Church, The Montgomery County Fair Board, REC Board, and the Soil and Water Conservation Board. Many years ago, Fred served on the board of Farmers Coop as President and still is a member. He was always very active in the Fair and 4-H and was the leader for the shooting sports for 4-H at one time. Fred enjoyed restoring old tractors, sport shooting, and collecting tools and antique clay pigeon throwers. Most recently, Fred was a member of the Speedy Clam Pulling Circuit for lawn mowers. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially "Sunday Funday" and spending time on the farm. The family loved harvest time and Fred always had more than one family member riding with him in the combine. The grandchildren always knew Fred would have ice cream and treats for them at his shed. Preceding him in death were Dale Elwood and his sister-in-law, Sue Wagaman. Survivors include his wife and best friend: Teresa Hossle; daughters: Heather Laire and husband Corey of Red Oak; Heidi Hossle of Essex, IA; and Becca Ridnour and husband Harry of Clarinda, IA; grandchildren: Clay Jordon of Red Oak; Ella and Renly Sandahl of Essex; and Emersyn and Maxwell Ridnour of Clarinda; parents: Max and Gwen Hossle of Red Oak; sisters: Julie Van Houten and Gib of Emerson, IA and Donise Seneker of Jefferson City, MO; mother-in-law: Janie Elwood of Red Oak; brothers-in-law: Jim Wagaman and wife Patty of Red Oak and Jerry Wagaman and wife Cindy of Red Oak; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
