Birthplace: Brooks, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Frances Devine, age 86, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Nodaway, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Frances Kathryn Devine was born April 2, 1917 in Brooks, Iowa the daughter of Ivan and Katherine (Petit) Marr. The family moved to Corning, Iowa when Frances was a young child. She graduated from the Corning High School. Frances was united in marriage to Raymond Devine on May 30, 1937 in Savannah, Missouri. After their marriage they lived in Nodaway, Iowa. During the war they moved to Brooks, Iowa where they lived until moving to rural Nodaway in 1945. They farmed for many years near Nodaway, Iowa. Frances also worked at the Union Carbide for 15 years retiring in 1972. Frances and Raymond moved to Corning, Iowa when they sold the farm in 1973 and in 1987 moved to Red Oak. Frances was preceded in death by her husband: Raymond Devine on June 15, 1992; and a sister: Marguerite Neal. Survivors include her 2 daughters; Kathryn Herman and her husband Gerald of Villisca, Iowa; and Marilyn Nelson of Red Oak, Iowa; son; James Devine and his wife Shari of Papillion, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren: Lori Siefering and her husband Ron of Malvern, Iowa; Jeff Herman and his wife Kimberly of Red Oak, Iowa; Don Nelson and his wife Vicky of Millard, Nebraska; Cheryl Stutzman and her husband Randy of Okinawa; Kris Nelson of Denver, Colorado; Ryan Devine and his wife Cheryl of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Joanne Devine of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 8 great grandchildren: Sydney Herman; Ashley, Amy and Brittany Stutzman; Rosie Devine; Matthew, Patrick and Drew Nelson; 1 great great grandson: Jordan Nelson; brother: Allyn Marr of Corning, Iowa; and a sister-in-law: Della Devine of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, May 30, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alan Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Nodaway, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Osteoporosis Foundation. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
