Birthplace: Mystic, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Frances A. Bauer, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Frances A. Bauer was born May 15, 1921 in Mystic, Iowa the daughter of Ralph and Sylvia (Browning) Lee. She graduated from the Seymour, Iowa High School in 1940 and in 1944 enlisted with the United States Navy stationed in San Diego, California. Frances was united in marriage to Max Bauer on January 4, 1946 in Coronado, California. They returned to Red Oak, Iowa where Max started farming. Frances was a longtime member of the Stratton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Red Oak Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her son: Gregory in 1967; her husband Max in 2009; sisters: Marjorie Vickroy and Korine Mays; and brother: Ron Gitchell. Survivors include her daughter: Kathie Bell and husband Jack of Red Oak, Iowa; grandsons: Jason Bell and wife Caydee and Tyler Bell; great grandchildren: Nicholas, Samuel & Olivia Bell all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brothers: Don Lee and wife Charlotte of Emerson, Iowa and Frank Gitchell of Rockford, Illinois; sister: Ramona Baxter of Shenandoah, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Her extended family at Good Samaritan Center is also loved and appreciated. Fran had many friends and relatives who enriched her life immeasurably. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials and prayers may be directed to Stratton Methodist Church, Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak or Heartland Home Health and Hospice.
