Birthplace: Red Oak, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA Fern Marie Aukland, age 80, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Fern Marie Aukland was born April 15, 1931 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Roland and Esther (Tidborg) Isaacson. She graduated from Stennett High School in 1949 and worked in Red Oak as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell. She was united in marriage to Thomas Aukland in January of 1950 in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived many different places including Colorado and California before settling in Omaha where Fern retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone in the early 1980's. She then moved to Red Oak and most recently had been a resident of Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Fern loved collecting tea pots, spoons, mice, and Jesus Statuary. She treasured her time spent with her beloved cat: Georgie Girl. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Thomas Aukland; and grandson: Ryan Aukland. Survivors include her sons: Thomas Aukland II and wife Janet of Springdale, AR and James Aukland of Ocalla, FL; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, November 28, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dr. George Hooper officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
