Obituary

Birthplace: Grant, Iowa Resided In: Stanton, Iowa Everett L. Courcier, age 85, of Stanton, Iowa passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak. Everett Lee Courcier was born August 18, 1926 in Grant, Iowa the son of George and Lela (Westover) Courcier. He was raised in Grant and Graduated with the Grant High School class of 1943. He entered the United States Army and served during WWII in Germany. Everett was very proud of his military service. After the war he returned home where he drove a truck for many years, was a businessman, and also farmed. Everett was united in marriage to Ruby Rupp Norcross on September 1, 1951 in Hiawatha, Kansas. They lived all of their married life in Montgomery County most recently in Stanton, Iowa. Ruby preceded Everett in death on May 12, 2009. Everett will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his family who describe him as a man from the greatest generation who was proud of being a veteran, the Yankees, and his family. He was an outstanding father and a good friend to everyone. He was a wonderful ball player, golfer, card player, and pool player. Everett was also in tune with the times. He was always interested in the new technology. Everett, being proud of his military service was a lifetime member of the Villisca American Legion. Survivors include his children: Gerald "Jerry" Norcross and wife Lin of Carmi, IL; Joyce Alexander of Omaha, NE; and James Courcier and wife Connie of Osceola, IA; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grand children; 6 great great grandchildren; sister: Georgia Frank of Grant, IA; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak.. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Grant, Iowa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
