Birthplace: Douglas, Nebraska Resided In: Gradnerville, Nevada formerly of Elliott, Iowa Evelyn Rowe, age 97, of Gardnerville, Nevada formerly of Elliott, Iowa passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at the Evergreen Care Center in Gardnerville, Nevada. Evelyn L. Rowe was born December 12, 1906 in Douglas, Nebraska the daughter of James and Mary (Rogge) Jose. She was raised in Douglas, Nebraska and graduated from Douglas High School. She then attended Peru State College. Evelyn was united in marriage to Edwin C. Rowe on February 22, 1928 in Douglas, Nebraska. They moved to rural Hamburg, Iowa in 1943. They lived in the Strand, Imogene, and Malvern areas before moving Northwest of Elliott, Iowa in 1952. They farmed all of their lives. They milked cows and raised hogs. Evelyn also sold eggs for many years. She loved gardening and canning and was known for her art of making rugs on a loom. She was a member of the Elliott United Methodist Church. Edwin preceded her in death on November 30, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son: Delmar Rowe; 4 brothers: Wilbur, Willard, Forrest, and Everett Jose; sister: Esther Mintzner; great granddaughter: Tammy; and son-in-law: Floyd Johnson. Survivors include her daughters: Darlene Rowe of Middletown, California; and Maryann Johnson of Gardnerville, Nevada; 4 grandchildren: Eugene Rowe and wife Joan of Omaha, Nebraska; Raymond Rowe of Omaha, Nebraska; Gloria Ingwersen of Omaha, Nebraska; and Lisa Valdez and husband James of Gardnerville, Nevada; 10 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and brother: Fay Jose of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, September 27, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Janice Carlton officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, September 26, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Memorial services will be held in Garnderville, Nevada on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 2PM at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Pete Nelson officiating. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
