Birthplace: Rural Wales, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Evelyn Jean DeBolt, age 87, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at the Red Oak Health Care Community after an extended illness. Evelyn was born October 18, 1925 near Wales, Iowa the daughter of Harry and Anglesey (Owens) Selser. She graduated from Wales Lincoln High School and started working as a dental assistant for Dr. B.F. Spicer. She was united in marriage to Lester DeBolt on December 17, 1949 in Emerson, Iowa. They made their home in the Wales and Emerson area for many years. Eveyln was a homemaker while the kids were young and started working when they were older. She worked for the egg plant in Malvern for a short time and Nishna Valley School in the kitchen. She was a long time member of the Wales Presbyterian Church, Wales Ladies Aid, and Golden Girls Club. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, canning, and being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Lester DeBolt; son: Jeffrey DeBolt; and sister: Mildred Andrews. Survivors include her son: John Lester DeBolt of Carroll, IA and his special friend Debra Wolfe of Red Oak, IA; daughter: Jean Friesen and husband Milford of Douglas, NE; grandchildren: Laura McNatt and husband Jason of Clive, IA; Cara Bloom and husband Dustin of Appleton, WI; Emily DeBolt and James DeBolt of Carroll, IA; Sally Stoakes and husband Dan of Stanton, IA; Susanah Friesen of Douglas, NE; and Eric DeBolt of Bode, IA; great grandchildren: Alexis, Weston, Evelyn, and Mitchell Stoakes; Owen and Oliver Case; Ellison and Ailey McNatt; and Elise and Nolan Bloom; brother: Albert Selser and wife Joan of Red Oak, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, September 20, 2013 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
