Erin Cathleen Mutschler, age 52, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Erin was born May 17, 1969, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Stephen McDonough and Sheila Reibock. She was raised in Davenport, Iowa, graduating from Central High School in 1987. Erin attended Santa Rosa Junior College in Santa Rosa, California, where she received a basketball scholarship. Erin was united in marriage to David Ernest Mutschler on June 9, 1989, in Red Oak, Iowa. Erin and David lived in Omaha where they raised their three sons. Her family meant the world to her. She adored them. Her grandbabies were the light of her life. Erin was an amazing cook and family gatherings always consisted of new recipes created into wonderful meals. She was an avid reader who always had a book in her hand. Erin loved sports and playing basketball when her boys were little. She was a beautiful soul and, in her illness, taught all who loved her what true strength and courage meant. She touched the heart of all who were blessed to have known her. Preceding her in death were her beloved grandparents. She cherished them and loved the wonderful memories she had on the farm in Decatur, Illinois. She never stopped talking about the loved she had for her dear grandpa and grandma. She also treasured the memories of growing up with her dear uncles, Jim and Tom. She also cherished her aunts, Pam and Kathy. Erin was also preceded in death by her father-in-law: Ernest Mutschler. Survivors include her mother: Sheila Kreuger of Davenport, IA; father: Stephen McDonough of Dover, NH; her uncles: Jim Reibock and wife Pam of Decatur, IL and Tom Reibock and wife Kathy of Arizona; her husband: David Mutschler of Omaha, NE; sons: Kevin Mutschler of Omaha, NE; Keegan Mutschler of Lincoln, NE; and Brady Mutschler and wife Sharnay of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Julian Mutschler and Legaci Mutschler; mother-in-law: Virginia Mutschler; sisters-in-law: Kimberly Cileli and husband Ken; Brenda Mutschler; Kathleen Lejman and husband Andy; and Tonya Gillespie and husband Chad; brothers-in-law: Matthew and husband Hector and Paul Mutschler; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Recitation of Rosary will be held 7 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa with visitation with the family to follow until 8 PM. Catholic Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Father Lazarus Kirigia officiating. Memorials are suggested to Donate Life for organ donation and transplant at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
