Birthplace: Friend, Nebraska Resided In: Red Oak, IA formerly Omaha Emily D. Mattox, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Omaha, Nebraska passed away Friday, February 17, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak. Emily Delores Mattox was born October 27, 1922 in Friend, Nebraska the daughter of Peter and Rose (Novak) Vojt. She was raised and attended school in Friend, Nebraska. After school, Emily worked as a nanny. She was united in marriage to Raymond P. Mattox on November 22, 1940 in Carter Lake, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Omaha for awhile, then moved to Wyoming for a short time, then back to Omaha. Over the years Emily worked for the Tip Top Plastic Factory, Hested's Dime Store, Glauber Valve Company, Cyneks Chicken Factory, and Western Electric of which she retired after 30 years of service. She loved BINGO, crocheting, ceramics, singing, dancing, cooking, and her grandkids as well as all of her family. Emily was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Raymond P. Mattox; son: Robert Mattox; brother: Jim Vojt; two sisters: Barbara Malone and Rose Balters; brother: Frank Vojta; and two grandsons: Brian Cain and Ricky Mattox. Survivors include her daughter: Bonnie Stephens and husband John of Emerson, Iowa; son: Raymond "Butch" Mattox and wife Donna of Prescott Valley, Arizona; grandchildren: Randy Mattox of Georgia; Robert Mattox of Omaha, NE; Jody Smith of Omaha, NE; Sandy Zuka and husband Phil of Mineola, IA; Kelli Skalberg and husband James of Cullman, AL; Ronald Mattox and wife Karen of Glenwood, IA; Babe Proctor and husband Denny of Emerson, IA; Gator Stephens and special friend Kathleen Carney of Emerson, IA; Chad Mattox of North Bend, NE; Travis Mattox of North Bend, NE; Molly Mattox of North Bend, NE; Jill Wolfe and husband Tim of Las Vegas, NV; and Bart Bartholomew and special friend Ronald Walters of Las Vegas, NV; great grandchildren: Chris, Cassie, Nick, Noah, Nathan, Katana, Zoe, Robert Jr., Ryan, James Jr., Spring, Lilly, and McKaela; 4 great great grandchildren; brother: Pat Vojt of New York; two sisters: Anna Kovar of Omaha, NE and Dorothy Doty and husband Howard of Elk Horn, NE; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Pam Flanagan officiating. A private family committal service will take place at the Westlawn Hillcrest Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, Red Oak, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
