Birthplace: Hastings, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Elva Lucille Laverty, age 67, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, September 30, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Elva Lucille Laverty was born March 8, 1935 in Hastings, Iowa the daughter of Thomas and Ola (Bowman) Gage. She graduated from high school in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Elva lived in Hastings, Iowa, Red Oak, Iowa, and Dallas, Texas before moving back to Red Oak 8 years ago. She was a waitress and also worked for the Eveready Battery Company. Elva was preceded in death by her parents; a daugher, Sheryl Leonard; two sisters, Irene Mabbitt and Elsie Prine; and an infant brother, Earl Gage. Survivors include her 2 sons: Ricky Laverty of Dallas, Texas; and Randy Laverty of Dallas, Texas; 4 grandchildren: Ricky Laverty, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; Ramsey Laverty of Dallas, Texas; Melinda Leonard of Omaha, Nebraska; and Michelle Leonard of Omaha, Nebraska; 2 brothers: John Gage and his wife Opal of Emerson, Iowa and Curtis Gage of New Market, Iowa; sister: Pearl McVay of Red Oak, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, October 5, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Schultz Officiating. Burial will be in the Farm Creek Cemetery at Henderson, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, October 4, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
