Birthplace: Wales, Iowa Resided In: Wales, Iowa Eleanor Jenkins age 84 of Wales, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 4, 2003 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Eleanor Jenkins was born August 10, 1919 in Wales, Iowa the daughter of John Oliver and Mary Ellen (Rowlands) Thomas. Eleanor was raised the Wales community and graduated from Wales High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Harold Jenkins in November 1945 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Harold and Eleanor farmed for all of their lives in the Wales community. Eleanor was a cook in the Wales and Red Oak schools. She was a member of the Wales Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, an elder and was a member of the ladies aid. She also enjoyed sporting events. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elizabeth Thomas and a brother, Howard Thomas. Survivors include her husband of 57 years Harold Jenkins of Wales, Iowa; three sons: Darry Jenkins of Wales, Iowa; Don Jenkins and his wife Nancy of Atlantic, Iowa; Bryan Jenkins and his wife Trudy of Wales, Iowa. Eleven grandchildren: Lori Bullivant and husband Joe of Chicago, Illinois; Lisa Jenkins of Charlotte, North Carolina; Rick Jenkins and wife Lisa of Red Oak, Iowa; Marla Jenkins of Omaha, Nebraska; Amy Bisenius and husband Adam of Holstein, Iowa; Alan, Angie and Emily Jenkins of Atlantic, Iowa; Jana Adams and husband Brandon of Elliott, Iowa; David Jenkins and wife Corrine of Red Oak, Iowa; and Daniel Jenkins of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Five great grandchildren: Chloey, Ashley, Olivia, Abbigail and Brooklyn. Three sisters-in-law: Edyth Thomas, Hazel Jones and Hellen Bonfy all of Red Oak, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Wales Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the Gomer Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the Wales Presbyterian Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
