Birthplace: Creston, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Eldred Phillips, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 16, 2005 at his home in Red Oak. Eldred Earl Phillips was born July 23, 1919 in Creston, Iowa the son of William and Frances (Ankeny) Phillips. The family moved to Red Oak when Eldred was very young. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1937 and attended Red Oak Junior College for two years. Eldred was united in marriage to Rilda Ingrim on June 22, 1941 in Red Oak, Iowa. Eldred was a longtime employee of the Burlington Northern Railroad retiring in 1981. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, a life member of the Red Oak Masonic Lodge, a former member of Toastmasters and the Red Oak City Council, and a member of the Transportation and Communications International Union. Eldred was preceded in death by his infant sister; his parents; brother: Fred Phillips; 5 brothers-in-law: Wendell Ingrim who was killed during the Korean War; Marion Selser; George Carpenter; Robert Ingrim; and Junior Ingrim; and 2 sisters-in-law: Evelyn Ingrim and Bernice Phillips. Survivors include his wife: Rilda Phillips of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Marsha Phillips of Red Oak, Iowa; sister: Jean Bowman of Seattle, Washington; 2 sisters-in-law: Katie Selser of Red Oak, Iowa and Viola Carpenter of Boise, Idaho; 2 brothers-in-law: Roscoe Ingrim and wife Phyllis of Riverside, California; and Ray Ingrim and wife Warrene of Erie, Colorado; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, July 22, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Duane Lacock officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Thursday, July 21, 2005 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Masonic Lodge or the Montgomery County Animal Rescue Shelter. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
