Birthplace: Shenandoah, Iowa Resided In: Imogene, Iowa Edward "Lynn" Costello, age 84, of Imogene, Iowa passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak. Lynn Costello was born December 27, 1923 in Shenandoah, Iowa the son of William Rudolph "W.R." and Olie Ethel (Gee) Costello. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from the Strahan High School in 1941. After graduation Lynn farmed in the Imogene community all of his life until retiring in 2003. He was united in marriage to Luella Sothman on August 28, 1954 in Lyman, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1986 and Lynn then was united in marriage to Marcella Ridlen on January 13, 1990. In his younger years, he helped organize the Mills County Rural Young People and served as President and a director of the state organization. In 1950 Lynn was a delegate to the Midcentury White House Conference on Children and Youth in Washington, D.C. by invitation of President Truman. Over the years Lynn served on the Mills County Farm Bureau Board, the Nishna Valley Community School Board, and the Ozark Family Camp Board. He was also a charter member of the Iowa Simmental Association and a member of the Sunnyside Bible Chapel in Atlantic, Iowa. Lynn was preceded in death by his wife: Luella Costello on December 28, 1986; and brothers: Ralph Costello, Darrel Costello, and Charles Costello. He is survived by his second wife, Marcella Costello of Red Oak, Iowa and her children. Lynn is also survived by his children: Randall Costello and wife Kimberly of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Linda Brown and husband Warren of Franca, Brazil; Joyce Moffitt and husband Paul of Cypress, Texas; Janis Anderson and husband Paul of Boone, Iowa; and Mark Costello and wife Rachel of Imogene, Iowa; 15 grandchildren: Katie Lynn Costello, Jay Brown, Justin Brown, Clark Brown and wife Jeanine, Josiah Moffitt, Jeremiah Moffitt, Hannah Moffitt, Abigail Moffitt, Caleb Anderson and wife Katy, Ethan Anderson and wife Kaci, Ian Anderson, Kyle Anderson, Matthew Costello, Julia Costello, and Peter Costello; great grandchildren: Wesley Brown, Douglas Brown, and Emma Anderson; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Gordon Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Monroe Township Cemetery near Imogene, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, January 4, 2008 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Ozark Family Camp, the Alzheimer's Association, or the Sunnyside Bible Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel, Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
