Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Boonville, MO formerly Red Oak Edith Barr, age 88, of Boonville, Missouri formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Monday, May 29, 2006 at the Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville, Missouri. Edith Margaret Barr was born November 3, 1917 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of James Willard and Viola Effie (Flood) Baird. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1935. Edith was united in marriage to Lloyd Barr on November 26, 1936 in Red Oak, Iowa. They farmed in Montgomery County until moving to Braddyville, Iowa. They farmed there until they retired in 1984 moving back to Red Oak, Iowa. Edith was a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church was she was very active in the Ladies Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Lloyd on April 14, 1989; several brothers-in-law and several sisters-in-law. Survivors include her daughters: Margene Farquhar and husband Elvin of Boonville, Missouri; and Joyce Strain of Maryland Heights, Missouri; 4 grandchildren: Debbie Maxwell and husband Mike of Boonville, Missouri; LeAnn Carlton and husband John of Shawnee, Kansas; John Strain and wife Debbie of Ballwin, Missouri; and Janet Strain of Webster Groves, Missouri; 9 great grandchildren: John, Ray, and David Strain of Ballwin, Missouri; Jerryami, Jacob, and Julia Strain of Webster Groves, Missouri; Jared and Alex Carlton of Shawnee, Kansas; and Trent Maxwell of Boonville, Missouri; brother: Harold Baird and wife Martha of Red Oak, Iowa; sister-in-law: Ina Andrews of Red Oak, Iowa; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, June 2, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dee Jay Reiff officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested for Macular Degeneration Research. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
