Birthplace: Brookfield, Missouri Resided In: Bellevue, Nebraska formerly of Red Oak, Iowa Edgar Stevenson , age 89, of Bellevue, Nebraska formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Friday, June 15, 2001 at Nebraska Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Omaha, Nebraska. Edgar James Stevenson was born July 11, 1911 in Brookfield, Missouri the son of Edward and Ethel (Lyster) Stevenson. Edgar went to school at Brookfield, Missouri. In later years, Edgar moved near Red Oak, Iowa with his family, where he met Violet Mae Summers. Edgar and Violet were married July 1, 1937 in Red Oak, Iowa, to this union were born two daughters: Shirley Ann and Connie Jean. Edgar farmed for 25 years in the Red Oak area and later moved into Red Oak where he worked for Mace and Hahn Implement for 25 years. Edgar was a wonderful man, who knew no strangers. He was also, known for being a hard working and honest man. He was a loving and devoted husband and dad. As a young man Edgar and his brother-in-law Cecil Summers would fix-up old cars and have long talks. Edgar's favorite outdoor activity was gardening and was known to grow the best garden around. Edgar will be greatly missed by all. Everyone will have nothing but the best of memories of Edgar Stevenson. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kate; and grandson, Robert Marckmann. Survivors include: his wife Violet of Bellevue, NE; daughters Shirley Weil and her husband Richard of California; and Connie Stevenson of Bellevue, NE. Grandchildren Jim Marckmann and wife Stephanie of Lenox, Iowa; Eddie Marckmann and wife Carolyn of Branson, MO; Rick Weil and wife Amy of Malvern, Iowa; Cheryl Harrison and husband Allen of California; and Nickey Smith and husband Glenn of California. Great-grandchildren Zachary, Michael, Garret and A. J. of Lenox; Chad and Kara of Branson, MO; Krista, Shiloh, Keegan and Cheyenne of Malvern; Michael of California; Christopher of California and Nathaniel, Robby and Gabriel of Iowa and one sister Peggy Cassell of California. Funeral services for Edgar Stevenson, age 89, of Bellevue, Nebraska formerly of Red Oak, Iowa will be Monday June 18, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak with Rev. Janice Carlton, officiating. Visitation with the family will be Sunday June 17, 2001 from 7-8 PM at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of all arrangements.
