Birthplace: Elliott, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Earl Andrew "Andy" Sattro, Jr., of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 on his 78th birthday. Earl Andrew Sattro, Jr. was born August 28, 1935 in Elliott, Iowa the son of Earl Andrew Sattro, Sr. and V. Darline (Carlisle) Sattro. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1953 and attended an Ag course at Iowa State University. He came home and started farming with his dad and working odd jobs. Andy was united in marriage to Betty Lee Davis on June 2, 1956 in Red Oak, Iowa. Andy also farmed for Howard Jackson, Byron Beeson, Ed Wearin, and Flying A Cattle Company. He later worked for Country Boy Tires, Farmer's Mercantile, G & L Oil, and Barrier Tire. He was also in the construction field and worked for Leonard Nelson and later Cashatt and Son Construction. He also worked at one time for the Montgomery County Secondary Roads and was maintenance supervisor for one year at Crescent Beach Resort at Lake Okoboji. He spent many years working as Maintenance Director for Good Samaritan Care Center retiring in 2006. Andy was currently a member of Elliott Church of Christ and in earlier years was a youth leader both at Stratton United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church in Red Oak. He enjoyed camping, boating, gardening, tinkering with his old tractors, and making homemade apple cider. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandkids and his loving family. Andy was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Betty Sattro of Red Oak, IA; children: Shelle Cashatt and husband Doug of Red Oak, IA; Paula Klepinger and husband Kevin of Emerson, IA; and Michael Sattro and wife Kathy of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Chris Cashatt and wife Jennifer of Red Oak, IA; Stacy Querry and husband Travis of Red Oak, IA; Jason Klepinger and wife Anne of Red Oak, IA; Jeremy Klepinger and girlfriend Ashley Tiemeyer of Emerson, IA; Jody Anderson and boyfriend Dave Norqual of Freeport, IL; and Sumer Sandholm and husband Brett of Red Oak, IA; 12 great grandchildren; sister: Marjorie Pike and husband Bill of Henderson, IA; sisters-in-law: Shirley Farnum of Red Oak, IA; Joyce Gaddis of Killeen, TX; and Carol Davis of St. Louis, IL; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
