Birthplace: Montgomery County, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA formerly Stanton, IA Dwight C. Vennerberg, age 93, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly Stanton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society. Dwight was born January 27, 1923 on the farm he lived most of his life in Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Axel and Amelia (Ossian) Vennerberg. He graduated from Stanton High School in 1940. While farming, he also attended and graduated from Red Oak Junior College. Later, Dwight attended Iowa State University, graduating in 1952 with an Agricultural Economist Degree. While at Iowa State, he was an honorary member of Alpha Zeta agriculture fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity, and sang with the Iowa State Singers and a touring quartet. Dwight was united in marriage to Marjorie "Jerry" Fay on September 6, 1952 in Somonauk, Illinois. To this union three children were born: Suzanne, Dwayne, and Dean. They continued to farm and live on the home farm in the Stanton area until 2010 when they moved to Red Oak. He was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir since 1936 and served on the church council. Dwight was active in Montgomery County Farm Bureau as president and a voting delegate for several years, was a director of Iowa Soybean Association, and a director of Iowa Corn Growers Association. He also served on the Nishna Productions board, the client advisory board for Midwest Capital of Omaha, Nebraska, and was on the board of the Swedish Heritage and Cultural Center in Stanton for 17 years. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Jerry Vennerberg on October 27, 2014; son: Dean Vennerberg; and brother: Vaughn Vennerberg. Survivors include his daughter: Suzanne Caquelin and husband Lennie of Minneapolis, MN; son: Dwayne Vennerberg and wife Terri of Stanton, IA; grandchildren: Matthew Caquelin and wife Jennifer of St. Paul, MN; Kristin Caquelin and husband Adam Proulx of Minneapolis, MN; Allison Vennerberg of San Francisco, CA; and Daniel Vennerberg and fiancée Kelsey Uherka of Neenah, WI; great grandchildren: Sebastian, Savannah, and Simon Caquelin; brother-in-law: Warren Fay and wife LaDonna of Byron, MN; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton, Iowa. Burial will be in the Mamre Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Mamrelund Lutheran Church or the Swedish Heritage and Cultural Center. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
