Birthplace: Faribault, MN Resided In: Elliott, IA DuVeen D. Jennings, age 81, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. DuVeen Delores Jennings was born October 4, 1930 in Faribault, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph and Wanda (Hill) Dollar. She graduated from the St. Joseph High School in Des Moines, Iowa and attended LeClaire College in Belleville, Illinois for one year and then Cedar Falls Teachers College where she received her teaching certificate. She later went on to receive her Masters Degree in Education from University of Nebraska at Omaha. DuVeen moved to Elliott, Iowa in 1949 to teach. She was united in marriage to Richard D. Jennings on June 12, 1950 in Des Moines, IA. They made their home in Elliott, Iowa. DuVeen continued her teaching career at Essex, Iowa and retired from the Malvern, Iowa School District in 1992 after 30 years of employment. DuVeen was a member of the Catholic Church, the Malvern Education Association, the Retired Teachers Association, the Elliott Library Board, and the "Friends of the Library". Preceding her in death were her parents; her sister: Patricia Dollar; and her brother: Joseph Dollar. Survivors include her husband: Richard Damian Jennings of Elliott, IA; children: Richard James Jennings and wife Mary Sullivan of Omaha, NE; Donald Jennings and wife Trish of Griswold, IA; and Ronald Jennings and wife Teresa of Elliott, IA; grandchildren: Sara Jennings-Graves and fiancé Josh Parks of Omaha, NE; Lori Carlson and husband Doug of Shenandoah, IA; Whitney Olsen and wife Kristina of Cedar Rapids, IA; Shyler Olsen and wife Tara of Cedar Rapids, IA; Sarah Olsen of Elliott, IA; Brandi Jennings Wells and husband Tim of Rapid City, SD; Justin Schroder and wife Megan of Griswold, IA; and Katie Sickels and husband Jason of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Dax Graves; Kelsey and Nicky Carlson; and MacKinzie, MacKade, MacKendrick Schroder; Triston Olsen; and Christopher Olsen and many other relatives and friends. There will be a private family graveside memorial service at Hillside Cemetery in Elliott, Iowa. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
