Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Dr. Kent L. Webb, age 59, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, September 9, 2011. Dr. Kent Lee Webb was born June 30, 1952 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Paul Clark and Margaret Janet (Woods) Webb. He graduated from Red Oak High School with the class of 1970 and received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1974. Kent received his Masters Degree in Audiology from KU Medical School in 1978 and his Doctorate from the University of Arizona in 2004. Kent opened a clinic in Red Oak, Iowa in 1981 and now serves 14 clinics in southwest and south-central Iowa. He was a member of the American Academy of Audiologists, the Iowa Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology and was involved with the Starkey Hearing Foundation. He was united in marriage to Jean Payne on May 25, 1985 in Red Oak, Iowa. Kent was very active in the community of Red Oak. He was a lifelong member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. Kent was a longtime Red Oak Country Club member, a huge supporter of the Montgomery County Family YMCA, and served on the Montgomery County Compensation Board. He was always active in sports whether it was coaching his kids' athletic events, enjoying biking, exercising, or just watching a good game. Kent's family describes him as a very generous man who would help anyone. Kent and Jean were looking forward to mission trips they had planned where they would go and provide hearing aids for a better hearing world. Kent and Jean also enjoyed spending time at their home in Hawaii where they intended to retire someday. Kent was preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Jane Stillinger. Survivors include his wife: Jean Webb of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Jennifer Ruble and husband Bob of Des Moines, IA; Jason Webb and wife Colleen of Des Moines, IA; Jaimi Webb of Des Moines, IA; Lisa Jones of Omaha, Nebraska; Eric Jones of Springfield, Missouri; Melissa Webb of Omaha, Nebraska; and Michael Webb of San Diego, California; grandchildren: Billy Webb, Caitlin Webb, Dylan Webb, Conrad Sauber, and Oliver "Kent" Webb; nieces: Katie Naughton and husband Luke of Australia and Klaire Stillinger of Des Moines, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-8 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Presbyterian Church or the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
