IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas Wade
Moser
October 11, 1957 – February 26, 2024
Douglas Wade Moser, age 66, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 26, 2024, at his home. Douglas was born on October 11, 1957, the youngest of three children of Ocie and Nancy (Evans) Moser.
Over his years in Glenwood and Council Bluffs, Iowa, he was a lively presence and much loved by his caregivers and housemates.
Fond memories of Doug include Gina Smith's memory of a time when she had to take Doug to the hospital, but it was not a fun experience trying to get him into the van. He let her know just what he thought of that by taking his coat off and throwing it out the window of the speeding van. Lesson learned!
He could deliver knock-you-over hugs, and a swat on the behind was a sign that you were his good friend. He loved giving and receiving kisses on the cheek and hated how the covid masks got in the way of those. He also was not at all shy in showing his dance moves when music came on.
He loved being around people and everyone was his friend. That included his caretakers, Gina Smith, Alexandra McClelland, Artayvia Dunlap, Aurora Dube, Faith Vanhorn, Katilyn Olinde, Makay Muridi, Sammie McQuinn, and Tara Marsh.
Preceding him in death were his parents; stepfather: Grant Ashby; and brother: David. Survivors include his sisters: Sara Bartlett and husband Terry of St. Paul, MN; Sue Wilson and husband Rob of Galesville, WI; Mike Ashby and wife Linda of Fripp Island, SC; Dennis Ashby and wife Jan of Orlando, FL; Patricia Ashby of Bellingham, WA; and Vicki Ashby of Olathe, KS; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
In his final years, Doug had wonderful care at AmeriServe. If you would like to honor his memory, please consider donating to them at AmeriServe Housing, 35 Main Pl., Suite 300, Council Bluffs, IA 51503.
