Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Douglas Curt "Doug" Bond, age 53, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha after a sudden illness. Doug was born June 12, 1959 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Jim and Marie (Wells) Bond. He graduated with the Red Oak Community High School class of 1978. He traveled to Oregon where he worked for the Park Service, then back to Iowa, Florida, and eventually back to Iowa where he lived the rest of his life. Over the years he worked for Star Ag, Bill Johnson Construction, Anderson Beverage, Doll Distributing, and owned his own Bar, Doug's Place. The past 16 years Doug has been employed by HyVee and currently was the Dairy Manager. Doug was united in marriage to Kelly Herring on October 20, 1995 in Red Oak, Iowa. His hobbies included hunting, riding motorcycles, playing golf, and being a wonderful Grandpa. His children describe him as "Funny" and being the "Yes" man with the kids. Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Donald and Lillian Bond and Charlie and Glee Peterson; father-in-law: Donald Herring; and sister-in-law: Nancy Bond. Survivors include his wife: Kelly of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Jeb Bond of Council Bluffs, IA; Tyler Bond of Red Oak, IA; Alison Ewing of Carson, IA; and Bailie Skidmore of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Jordyn and Jacob Bond of Shenandoah, IA; Wyatt and Morgan Ewing of Carson, IA; and Caylee Bond of Grand Island, NE; parents: Jim and Marie Bond of Red Oak, IA; brother: Donnie Bond of Red Oak, IA; sister: Brenda Strong and husband Dave of Erie, CO; mother-in-law: Anne Herring of Red Oak, IA; sisters-in-law: Annette Paul and husband Darren of Red Oak, IA and Donna Roby and husband Mike of Red Oak, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends including special friends: Ron and Kelly Waters of Red Oak, IA. A celebration of life service will be held 3 PM Friday, June 14, 2013 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Len Taylor officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family of Doug Bond. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
