Birthplace: Morton Mills, Iowa Resided In: Villisca, Iowa Dorothy Louise Strickland, age 87, of Villisca, Iowa, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa. Dorothy was born December 22, 1933 in Morton Mills, Iowa. She graduated from Villisca High School in 1952. Dorothy was united in marriage to Dick Strickland in 1963. Over the years, Dorothy worked for Eveready Battery Company, was a stay-at-home mom, did some babysitting, and worked for Villisca Schools as secretary where she retired. She was a member of Villisca United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included reading, flower gardening, taking care of her yard, going for walks, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Cody. Preceding her in death were her parents and sister, Laverne Meggison. Survivors include her daughter: Debbie Morton and husband Bill of Villisca, IA; grandson: Cody Clement of Villisca, IA; step-grandchildren: Bryce Reynolds and wife Erica of Ames, IA and Bailey Walters and husband Connor of Ogden, IA; sister: Jean Carson of Elliott, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Villisca United Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the Villisca Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Villisca Public Library. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
