Birthplace: Montgomery County, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA Dorothy L. Schmidt, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away August 3, 2012 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center after an extended illness. Dorothy Louise Schmidt was born October 9, 1926 in West Township of Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of Isaac and Bertha Edith (Wright) Conley. She was raised in Coburg where she attended school. Dorothy was united in marriage to Frank Schmidt on April 4, 1942 in Rockport, Missouri and they moved to Red Oak. Dorothy's mother stayed with her until Frank returned home after WWII. She was a homemaker most of her life and owned Hanky Panky Lounge with Frank for ten years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, loved to bake, and enjoyed doing crafts. She was quite talented and even supervised a lot of the crafts at the nursing home. Preceding her in death were her parents; her step-father: Neighly Rhoades; her husband: Frank in 1979; and six siblings. Survivors include her daughter: Shirley Lukehart and husband Robert of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Rocky Lukehart and wife Tammy; Rodney, Reggie, and Robby Lukehart; Rachel Lukehart and husband Dan; Rusty Foreman; and Rainbow Miner and husband Jason all of Red Oak, Iowa; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established in Dorothy's name. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
