Birthplace: McKinney,TX Resided In: Stanton, IA Dorothy B. Drake, age 91, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Stanton Care Center. Dorothy Bush Drake was born September 19, 1920 in McKinney, Texas the daughter of William Franklin and Marguerite (Stollings) Bush. She graduated from the Highland Park, Texas High School and attended Arlington College for two years and then University of North Texas for two years receiving her teaching degree. Dorothy was united in marriage to James Palmer Drake in 1942 at University Park, Dallas County, Texas. James was a career military man and the family lived in many different places in the United States and the Philippines. Dorothy substitute taught in Highland Park and University Park, Texas; Coronado, California; and Norfolk, Virginia. Prior to moving to Iowa Dorothy lived in Van Alstyne, Texas for 25 years where she was a member of the First Methodist Church. She moved to Red Oak, Iowa 11 years ago and has been a resident of the Stanton Care Center since 2011. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: James Palmer Drake; grandson: James Drake III; and a sister: Maurine Castles. Survivors include her sons: James Drake and wife Dianna of Stanton, IA; Robert Drake of Austin, TX; and David Drake and wife Margie of Littleton, CO; grandchildren: John Drake and wife Connie of White Hall, AR; Jared Drake of Littleton, CO; and Jennifer Oliver and husband Ian of Frisco, CO; great grandchildren: Meredith Drake of White Hall, AR and Evelyn Oliver of Frisco, CO; brother: Bill Bush of Dallas, TX; sister: Betsy Young of Fort Worth, TX; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date at the West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
