Birthplace: Mills County, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Dorothy H. Darby, age 84, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Dorothy Helen Darby was born May 20, 1922 in Anderson Township of Mills County, Iowa the daughter of Charlie and Hazel (Mayberry) Wilhelm. Dorothy was raised in Mills county graduating from the Malvern High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Estle Darby on January 31, 1940 in Glenwood, Iowa. They farmed near Emerson for 20 years and Dorothy worked as a postal clerk in the Emerson Post Office retiring in 1982. They moved to Branson, Missouri where they lived for 13 years before moving back to Emerson in 1995. Dorothy was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Baptist M and A. She enjoyed fishing, bowling and T.V. Survivors include her husband: Estle Darby of Emerson, Iowa; brother: Charles "Bud" Wilhelm of Hastings, Iowa; sister: Florence Wilhelm of Hastings, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Otha Lee Mellott and husband Ken of Anaheim, California; Patricia Christen and husband Dale of Salinas, California; Kenneth Ray Darby and wife Annette of Yorba Linda, California; Donald Darby and wife Shirley of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Frances Shelley and husband Gary of Estes Park, Colorado; and Rachel Darby of Emerson, Iowa; a young lady whom they raised for 6 years: Glenda Simmons of California; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Al Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Farm Creek Cemetery at Henderson, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 Pm Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Farm Creek Cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
