Birthplace: Grant, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Dorothy Bohanan, age 90, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Corning, Iowa passed away Wedenesday, September 24, 2003 at the Corning Nursing and Rehab Center in Corning, Iowa. Dorothy Pauline Bohanan was born May 13, 1913 in Grant, Iowa the daughter of Richard and Edith (Rosencranse) Corbin. She attended school in Grant until the fourth grade when she started attending the Washington # 7 school at Mt. Etna. Dorothy was united in marriage to Harry Bohanan on September 7, 1932 in Maryville, Missouri. Dorothy and Harry farmed until Harry started working for the Iowa State Highway Commission in 1943. They lived in Corning until Harry retired in 1972 when they moved to Red Oak. Dorothy worked for the Places Store, Skaggs Drug Store and was a medical secretary in Corning. She was a member of the Nishna Church of Christ in Red Oak. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Harry Bohanan on August 4, 2001; and son: Carlton Bohanan on July 25, 2003; three brothers: Kenneth, Bernard, and Dale; and two sisters: Violet and Evelyn. Survivors include her grandchildren: Bradford Bohanan and his wife Carol of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Randy Bohanan and his wife Dominee of Corning, Iowa; and Scott Bohanan and his wife Nancy of Corning, Iowa; 12 great grandchildren; three sisters: Florence, Vivian, and Velma all of Oregon; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, September 29, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Derek Watt officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Nishna Church of Christ. Nelson- Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
