Birthplace: Corning, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Doris K. Von Bon, age 87, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away, Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Doris Katherine Von Bon was born January 10, 1926 in Corning, Iowa the daughter of John and Verna (Hinton) Walford. She graduated from Corning, Iowa High School in 1943. Doris was a retail clerk for Gibson Discount Center and was united in marriage to Jack Von Bon on January 17, 1976 in Westboro, Missouri. She and Jack were long time active members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Doris loved gardening and enjoyed watching birds, especially cardinals. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Robert, Wayne, and Donald Dean Walford. Survivors include her husband: Jack Von Bon of Red Oak, IA; sons: John Von Bon and wife Brooke of Germantown, WI; Eugene Von Bon and wife Rita of Pensacola, FL; Robert Von Bon and wife Elaine of Bloomfield, IA; and Tim Von Bon and wife Jill of Ogden, UT; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers: Roger Walford and wife Donna of Red Oak, IA and Tom Walford and wife Betty of Gilbert, AZ; sisters-in-law: Betty Walford and Bert Walford of Red Oak, IA; Anna Belle Von Bon of Dedham, IA; Mary Smith of N. Little Rock, AR; and Kathy Horner of Des Moines, IA; brother-in-law: Ronald Von Bon of Panora, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Thomas Kunnel, TOR officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. A prayer service will be held 7 PM Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with visitation with the family to follow. Memorials are suggested to the St. Mary's Catholic Church Elevator Fund or the Red Oak Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
