Birthplace: Villisca, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Donnie Ray Smith, age 72, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Parson House Assisted Living in Omaha, Nebraska. Donnie was born March 14, 1943 in Nodaway, Iowa the son of Ralph and Flossie Morhain Smith. He graduated from Villisca High School. Over the years, Donnie worked for the railroad, Thos. D. Murphy Company, Valley Associates, and retired from Parker Hannifin after 21 years of perfect attendance. He was united in marriage to Linda Meggison on July 11, 1975 in Missouri. They made their home in Red Oak. Donnie enjoyed playing pool, woodworking, and tinkering in his garage. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother: Gary Smith. Survivors include his wife: Linda Smith of Red Oak, IA; children: Scott Smith and wife Elizabeth of Lantana, FL; Deanna Sowers and husband Rod of Red Oak, IA; Angie Akers and husband Mike of Shenandoah, IA; and Kevin Smith and wife Kristi of Omaha, NE; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sisters: Joyce Marasco and husband Bernie of Omaha, NE; Joan Garnatz and husband Steve of Red Oak, IA; Jolene Geske and husband Doug of Council Bluffs, IA; Judy Snipes and husband Bill of Council Bluffs, IA; Jeanne Stull and husband Marty of Clarinda, IA; Jackie Lininger and husband Galen of New Market, IA; and Jeri Goodkind and husband Terry of Boulder City, NV; brothers: Wayne Smith and wife Jane of Blair, NE and Denny Smith and wife Paula of Red Oak, IA; sister-in-law: Marcella Smith of LaVista, NE; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A memorial visitation and viewing will take place from 2-4 PM Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
