Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Rural Red Oak, Iowa Donald E. Wetterlind, age 75, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Donald Edward Wetterlind was born May 17, 1934 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Ernest and Lucile (Stocksleger) Wetterlind. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1952 and was united in marriage to Pat Aiken on December 5, 1954 at the family home where Don and Pat still live today. After their marriage they lived in Red Oak and Don worked for several area farmers. He worked for Kaiser Construction at the rock quarry before he started farming on his own in 1958. In 1960 Don and Pat moved to the Aiken family farm. Don was a longtime member of the Center Ridge Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and a member of the Calf Club and was currently a member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge and Farm Bureau. He enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and tinkering in his shop. He spent time working jig-saw puzzles and loved computer games. Don's family describes him as the "Rock" of the family and always had a keen sense of humor. His family was his pride and joy. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother: Duane Wetterlind; and sister: Dorothy Anderson. Survivors include his wife: Pat Wetterlind of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Denise Bergren and husband Tom of Villisca, Iowa; Barb Drogo and husband Bob; Doug Wetterlind and wife Patti; and Mike Wetterlind and wife Cindy all of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Brandi Wichhart and husband Derk of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jennifer Rowley and husband Corbin of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Angela Bergren of Lincoln, Nebraska; Jessica Bergren of Alpharetta, Georgia; Matthew Drogo of Atlantic, Iowa; Ashley Drogo and fiancé Lucas Mosier of Indianola, Iowa; Anthony Drogo of Council Bluffs, Iowa; David Wetterlind of West Des Moines, Iowa; Tami Donovan and husband Shane of Apex, North Carolina; and Mark Wetterlind, Jacob Wetterlind, and Ryan Wetterlind all of Red Oak, Iowa; sister: Carolyn McKay of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Center Ridge Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-3 PM Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
