Obituary

Birthplace: Bellevue, Nebraska Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Dianne Elaine (Wolfe) Charmeda, age 74, of Red Oak, Iowa, entered into Heaven on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital with family at her side. Dianne was born September 30, 1947, at Fort Crook Army Base in Bellevue, Nebraska, the daughter of Darrell and Elaine (Liljedahl) Wolfe. She grew up on the family farm near Red Oak. Dianne attended a one room school, Fairview #7, through the 8th grade. She graduated from Red Oak High School in the class of 1965. She was confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak. As a young girl, she was a girl scout for many years. Following high school, Dianne became a certified medical assistant and worked at an Omaha clinic for several years. Moving back to Red Oak, Dianne's flair for fashion led her to a job at Stevenson's Clothing Store at Red Oak Plaza and later Ross' Fine Clothing on the north side of Fountain Square. Dianne was united in marriage to Bill Charmeda on December 17, 1977 in St. Petersburg, Florida. A business venture presented itself to become owner/operator, along with her husband Bill, of Tiger's Den Restaurant (formerly Mondo's) in Red Oak featuring their popular Midnight Breakfast. The restaurant eventually closed its door due to Bill's declining health. Dianne went on to work at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in the Medical Records Department. Dianne was a proud member of The Daughters of the American Revolution with ancestry ties to a Captain in the Continental Army. She developed an interest in Ex-POW meetings and forming friendships with war veterans and listening to their stories. This interest was piqued by her father being a prisoner of war during WWII. Dianne enjoyed traveling, including trips to Florida and a coastline cruise, but loved the Amana colonies, all the same. Her love of music sent her to Neil Diamond and Bruce Springsteen live concerts. Dianne's children were her beloved dogs through her life. She attended Faith Community Church and enjoyed Bible studies and being a greeter. Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant baby sister; her husband, Bill, brother-in-law: Mike Milgrove; half-brother: Michael Salisbury; and a great nephew: baby Gus Fridolph. Survivors include her brother: Dennis Wolfe; sisters: Deborah Wolfe, Deanna Clark, and Dawn Milgrove; nephews: Tim Fridolph (Kate) and Adam Clark; nieces: Jody Esaias and Sarah Clark; great nieces: Lexy Fridolph, Sydnee Esaias-Baker, Samantha Esaias, and Stevie Esaias; great nephews: Sabin Esaias and Sylar Esaias; great great nephew: Branch Baker; and other extended family and many cherished friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Mt. Hope Cemetery at Nyman, Iowa. There will be open viewing at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
