Birthplace: Tabor, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Detta R. Meggison, age 71, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2003 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center in Red Oak after an extended illness. Detta Ruth Meggison was born July 11, 1932 in Tabor, Iowa the daughter of James and Mildred (Johnson) Huffman. She was raised and attended country school in the Glenwood area. Detta was united in marriage to Max Meggison on November 24, 1970 in Omaha, Nebraska. Detta was a homemaker and a member of the Red Oak Church of the Nazarene. Detta was preceded in death by her parents; a brother: Wilbur Huffman; and a sister: Joan Houtchens. Survivors include her husband: Max Meggison of Red Oak, Iowa; son: Michael Holland and his companion Julie Lee of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 daughters: Kathy Carpenter and Denise Hansen of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Amy Morelock of Stockton, Iowa; David Morelock of Lexington, Oklahoma; Ryan Hansen, Andrew Hansen, and Zacharia Holland all of Red Oak, Iowa; Rachel Bedsole of Emerson, Iowa; and Rob Smithburg of Burlington, Iowa; sister: Judith Huffman of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday, November 1, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Burgett officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
