Birthplace: Clarinda, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa formerly Elliott, Iowa Denny Berry, age 76, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Elliott, Iowa passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Dennis Dean Berry was born November 20, 1933 in Clarinda, Iowa the son of Gail and Coral (Brown) Berry. He attended school in Carroll, Iowa and Cherokee, Iowa. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his return from Korea Denny, worked with his uncle Jim at Jim's Bar and Grill in Red Oak. Denny was united in marriage to Shirley Templeton on June 6, 1959 in Elliott, Iowa. Denny owned Berry's Drive Inn Restaurant until he started farming. He farmed until 1979 when he went to work for Sifford Feed Service and later purchased what became Berry Feed Service in Elliott, Iowa. Denny retired in 1998. He was a longtime member of the American Legion and the Red Oak Elks Lodge. He spent many hours enjoying camping and classic cars. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife: Shirley on March 1, 1998; his sisters: Kay Berglund and Annie Greenwalt; and brother: Jack Berry. Survivors include his children: David Berry of Elliott, Iowa and Susan Berry of Griswold, Iowa; brother: B.E. Berry and wife Glenda of Nampa, Idaho; mother-in-law: Jean Kerr of Atlantic, Iowa; sister-in-law: Diane Carspecken and husband Richard of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
