Obituary

Dennis William "Bill" Pike, age 90, of Henderson, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022, at this home. Bill was born March 23, 1932 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of George Donald and Alice Pearl (Merkle) Pike. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1949 and started working for the Red Oak Express as a printer until serving in the United States Marines in 1952 during the Korean War. Bill was united in marriage to Marjorie Sattro on June 30, 1955 in Red Oak, Iowa. He worked for Red Oak Express before he and Marjorie moved to California in 1962 working for South County Publishing. Bill and Marjorie moved back to Red Oak in 1964 where he worked for Red Oak Express until starting with the Learning Resource Center. In 1973, Bill started his career with Deaf Missions until 1981 when they moved to Joplin, Missouri, where Bill worked at Ozark Christian College. Bill and Marjorie returned to Iowa in 1993 and made their home on their acreage near Henderson, Iowa. Bill continued his work with Deaf Missions for many years. Bill also owned and operated his own printing company. He was a member of the Elliott Church of Christ and was a very faithful servant of the Lord. His hobbies included making clocks, woodworking, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, gardening, and was a musician.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother-in-law: Andy Sattro. Survivors include his wife: Marjorie Pike of Henderson, Iowa; sons: William Andrew "Andy" Pike and wife Kathleen of Neosho, MO and William Earl "Bill" Pike and wife Viola of Newnan, GA; 8 grandchildren: Ashden Smith and husband Eric of Seneca, MO; Brittany Ross and husband Marcus of Granby, MO; Victoria Farmer and husband Chris of Neosho, MO; William Pike of Eugene, OR; Kristine Pike of Newnan, GA; Jennifer Pike of Newnan, GA; Megan Pike of Eugene, OR; and Rachel Pike of Newnan, GA; 7 great grandchildren: Easton and Aubrey Smith: Hunter and Tate Ross; and Kinlee, Colton, and Kayden Farmer; sister: Karen Zimmerman and husband Larry of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law: Betty Sattro of Stanton, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, October 3, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Memorials are suggested to Deaf Missions or Elliott Church of Christ.
