Birthplace: Mt. Moriah, Missouri Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Deloris "Maxine" Coy, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri. Deloris "Maxine" Coy was born May 4, 1929 in Mt. Moriah, Missouri the daughter of Arthur and Ruby (Johnson) Barritt. She grew up in Missouri and Emerson, Iowa. Maxine attended school in Missouri and country school and high school in Emerson. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Coy on November 9, 1946 in Marysville, Kansas. After their marriage they lived in the southwest Iowa communities of Emerson, Hawthorne, and Red Oak. Maxine worked for the Union Carbide Battery Plant for 37 plus years retiring from Eveready Battery in 1991. Maxine was a member of the First Baptist Church and when she lived in Emerson, she taught Sunday school. She was also a former member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Maxine enjoyed flowers, gardening, canning, watching hummingbirds and wrens, knitting, crocheting, spending time outdoors, and traveling. Maxine's travels took her all over the western states, Hawaii, and Branson, Missouri. One of her favorite pastimes was going to the casino. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Kenneth in 1982; brothers: Rodney Carnagey and Garland Barritt. Survivors include her daughters: Linda Lidgett of Red Oak, IA and Cynthia Charles and husband Craig of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren: Scarlett Lidgett and Gary Porter of Red Oak, IA; Shari Courtier and husband Allen of Emerson, IA; Shana Newquist and husband Ken of Maryville, MO; James Lidgett of Holualoa, HI; Carrie Charles of Ankeny, IA; Christopher Charles and wife Royale of Murray, IA; and Dena Cloud and husband Wade of Ankeny, IA; great grandchildren: Coltyn Lidgett; Zoey and Zena Courtier; Cassie and Darian Culbertson; Kahealani Lidgett; and Patience, Ashlynn, Shane, Melody, Joshua, Abigail, Seth, and Noah Charles with another due in April; great great grandchild: Rowan Lidgett; brother: Rogene Carnagey and wife Leola of Shenandoah, IA; 2 half brothers; 1 half sister; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Len Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Nelson-Boyaln-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
