Deloris Mae Akers, age 84, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at her home. Deloris was born January 10, 1939, in Bedford, Iowa, the daughter of Merle and Pauline (Armstrong) Hoops. She was raised in Bedford where she attended school. Deloris was united in marriage to Duane Akers on January 13, 1957, in Bedford, Iowa. In her younger days, she worked at the Bedford Nursing Home and was an Avon Lady. They lived in Gravity, Iowa before moving to Stanton nearly 56 years ago. She worked at an electrical company in Corning and was a homemaker raising her family. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, and was involved in several neighborhood clubs throughout the years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Duane Akers; son: Randy Akers; grandchildren: Mercedes Akers, Danette Harman, and Shaun Akers; brother: LeRoy Hoops; and sisters-in-law: Darlene Armstrong and Charlotte Akers; and brother-in-law: Lloyd Akers. Survivors include her children: Debbie Boyd and husband Chris of Sidney, IA; Angie Akers of Stanton, IA; Rick Akers of Red Oak, IA; and Gary Akers and wife Angi of Grant, IA; grandchildren: David Harman and wife Mollee of Stuart, NE; Summer Akers and Bailey String of Guthrie Center, IA; and Kodi Akers of Red Oak, IA; great grandchildren: Shaun Akers of Sidney, IA; Kendall Globe of Omaha, NE; Decklyn Harman of Stuart, NE; Scarlett String of Guthrie Center, IA; and Ava Lynn of Sioux City, IA; brother: Gary Hoops and wife Chris of The Villages, FL; sister: Kim Woodle of Duncombe, IA; sister-in-law: Deloris Williams of Villisca, IA; brother-in-law: Junior Akers and wife Edna of Peru, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 1-2 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church before going to the cemetery in procession.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
