Birthplace: Nyman, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Delaine "Red" Josephson, age 91, of Red Oak, Iowa, died Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Red was born October 28, 1923 in Page County near Nyman, Iowa to Harry and Martha Peterson Josephson. Red was drafted into the army during WWII on March 10, 1943. After being wounded, he spent three months in a hospital in England; then, he was sent back to France until he was honorably discharged on December 13, 1945. He was united in marriage to Arlene Chickering on July 30, 1950 in Red Oak, Iowa. Arlene preceded him in death and he was united in marriage to Myra Damewood on February 14, 2003. Red owned and ran many business establishments in the Red Oak area including Dairy Sweet, Red's Tavern, Glad Rags, Red Coat Lounge, and Hawkeye Ford. Red loved his country, family, a good joke, and classic cars. Preceding him in death were his parents and wife: Arlene Josephson. Survivors include: his wife: Myra of Red Oak; son: Kirk Josephson of Red Oak; daughter-in-law: Jo Josephson of Red Oak; daughter: Karla Celotto of Melford, CT; grandchildren: Mike Josephson and wife Kaeleen and Mark Josephson and wife Carmin all of Red Oak; great grandchildren: Chloe, Cameron, Noah, and Victoria all of Red Oak; Jennifer of Florida; and Rachel of California; stepchildren: Pam Huntsman and husband Bob of Emerson, IA and Gary Bentley and wife Dianne of Glenwood, IA; step-grandchildren: Kilee Docker and husband Danny of Red Oak; Ben Huntsman of Red Oak; Lindsay Huntsman of Emerson; Nic Bentley and wife Melissa of Urbandale, IA; and Katie Bentley of Tulsa, OK; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside memorial services will be held 10 AM Monday, May 30, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested in Red's memory. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
