Birthplace: Rural Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Dean W. Woods, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Dean Winton Woods was born February 10, 1918 in rural Red Oak, Iowa the son of Donald and Bernice (Carlson) Woods. Dean attended school at the Wales Lincoln School in Montgomery County, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Virginia Hanson on December 6, 1937 in Glenwood, Iowa. They farmed and lived all of their lives in Montgomery County, Iowa being on the same farm for 46 years. Virginia preceded Dean in death on December 6, 2000. Dean remained on the farm until January 26 of this year when he moved to the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant daughter: Mary Ann; sisters: Eleanor Richards; Virginia Maxwell; Helen Thoren; Dorothy Fulkerson; and Irma Barr; and two brothers: Syke Woods and Charles Woods. Survivors include his daughter: Sandy Kreifels and husband Bob of Omaha, Nebraska; 4 grandchildren: Bobby Kreifels of Omaha, Nebraska; Matthew Kreifels and wife Courtney of Omaha, Nebraska; Nicholas Kreifels of Omaha, Nebraska; and Carrie Kreifels of San Diego, California; 2 brothers: Clem Woods of LaVista, Nebraska; and Paul Woods and wife Joyce of Treynor, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, June 5, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Francis Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, June 4, 2006 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the American Parkinson Disease Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
