Obituary

Birthplace: Missouri Resided In: Omaha, Nebraska David W. Peters, age 91, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital. David William Peters was born October 12, 1920 in Missouri the son of Carl and Bueana (Sisson) Peters. He was raised in Missouri, Iowa, and Kansas. He graduated from the Salina, Kansas High School. He attended Kansas City Art Institute for a short time before serving in the Air Force during WWII. Upon his return from WWII he lived in the Omaha area and was united in marriage to Zelma Jean Williams of Wales, Iowa on August 23, 1953. David worked for the City of Omaha for 35 years as a draftsman, photographer, and abstracter. He spent his retirement years enjoying traveling, flying, and his family. David was an aircraft enthusiast and built his own plane. He flew this plane up until a couple of years ago. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Zelma Peters on February 14, 2005; and brothers: John and Jim. Survivors include his son: Mark Peters of Omaha, NE; grandson: Chris Peters of Lincoln, NE; granddaughter: Cassie Peters of Omaha, NE; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial will be in the Gomer Cemetery at Wales, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
