Birthplace: Randolph, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa David G. Gohlinghorst, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, July 15, 2004 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital . David G. Gohlinghorst was born February 21, 1920 in Randolph, Iowa the son of Frank and Marjorie (Spencer) Gohlinghorst. The family moved to the Coin area when David was a child. He graduated from the Coin High School in 1937. The family then moved to a farm near Franklin Grove where David farmed. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Watt on November 1, 1947 in Red Oak, Iowa. They purchased their farm that same year. Phyllis preceded David in death on April 30, 2004. David was a member of the Climax United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Montgomery County Pork Producers, 4-H leader of the Walnut Creek Cyclones, and Past School Board President at Coburg. He was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling. David's passion was his family and the Montgomery County Fair Board of which he was a member. David and Dwaine Long were the fair board members who started the Demolition Derby which is still a fair tradition. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and 2 sisters: Marjorie Gohlinghorst and Dorothy McGlone. Survivors include his children: David L. Gohlinghorst of Red Oak, IA; Deborah Dudzinski and husband Walter of Omaha, Nebraska; Patricia Seipel of Maryville, MO; Donald Gohlinghorst and wife Mary of Red Oak, IA; Phillip Gohlinghorst and wife Patsy of Red Oak, IA; and Peggy Rasmussen and husband Layne of Johnston, IA; grandchildren: Paul Dudzinski and wife Erin of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Carl Dudzinski of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Chad Vanderhoof and wife Lori of Red Oak, IA; Angela Vanderhoof of Red Oak, IA; Megan Seipel, and J.T. Seipel both of Maryville, MO; Dan Gohlinghorst and wife Danette of Missouri Valley, IA; Marjorie Gohlinghorst of Red Oak, IA; Katelin Gohlinghorst of Red Oak, IA; Shawn, Trevor, and Keegan Gohlinghorst all of Red Oak, IA; Erik, Anna, and Jens Rasmussen all of Johnston, IA; 4 great grandchildren: Nicole, Cameron, and Randi Jo Vanderhoof of Red Oak, IA; and Savanna Abraham of Red Oak, IA Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. David MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8:30 PM Monday, July 19, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. A memorial fund is being established. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
