Obituary

Birthplace: Malvern, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Darwin A. Graham, age 79, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Darwin Alfred Graham was born September 27, 1929 near Malvern, Iowa the son of Earl and Gladys (Hatfield) Graham. He attended school at the Wales Lincoln School where he enjoyed playing basketball and other sports. Darwin was united in marriage to Bonnie Colvin in 1955 and to this union two daughters were born: Candy and Becky. He later was united in marriage to Jean Huntington. Darwin was a carpenter and worked for Vannausdle Construction for many years and never really retired. He enjoyed doing woodworking, bowling, and in his younger years played softball. Darwin was also a former member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Jim Graham. Survivors include his wife: Jean Graham of Red Oak, Iowa; daughters: Candy Hopping and husband Russ of Oakland, Iowa and Becky Robertson and husband Jim of Pacific Junction, Iowa; step-children: Tim Huntington and wife Barb of Apache Junction, Arizona; Dave Huntington and wife Kathy of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Linda Zaka and husband Gus of Corona, California; and Ted Huntington and wife Linda of Red Oak, Iowa; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister: Aline Echternach of Red Oak, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, February 6, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Elizabeth Dilley officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
