Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Funeral services are set for Darwin and Juanita Alm of Red Oak, Iowa. Memorial graveside services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Juanita Alm passed away October 24, 2011. Darwin Alm, age 82, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away July 4, 2017 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Darwin Russell Alm was born August 29, 1934 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Carl V. Alm and Alice M. (Johnson) Alm. Darwin attended Elliott schools and was united in marriage to Ellen "Juanita" Nichols on June 23, 1952 in Stanton, Iowa. He started farming, then worked for Johnson Construction before retiring from Eveready Battery in 1996. Darwin and Juanita lived in Stanton, Emerson, Elliott and Red Oak. He enjoyed visiting with people, carpentry work and going to auctions. Darwin served in the U.S. National Guard. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Juanita; his sisters: Edith Rabe, Grace Lucas, Viola Johnson and Anna Allen. He is survived by his children: Ellen Jean Thompson of Murrieta, California; Marie Alm of Denison, Iowa; Darwin Alm, Jr. and wife Ylene of Atlantic, Iowa; Nancy Waldemer and husband Calvin of Denison, Iowa; Tammy Wilson of Salem Winston, North Carolina and Ann Demanett and husband Gary of Columbia, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brothers: Carl Alm of Elliott, Iowa and Leonard Alm of Griswold, Iowa; and sister: Lillian Madden of Red Oak, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. Graveside memorial services for Darwin and Juanita Alm of Red Oak, Iowa will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to The Shriners or St. Judes Hospital. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
