Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Darold C. Stoddard was born January 30, 1933 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Raymond H. and Lola M. (Briggs) Stoddard. He passed away on Tuesday morning, August 18, 2015 at the Stanton Care Center in Stanton, Iowa at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 19 days. Darold grew up in Red Oak and graduated from Red High School. Following high school he served his country in the United States Air Force. Darold made a 35 ½ year career as a civilian instructor and supervisor at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. He was also a member of the Am Vets in Rantoul, Illinois. On July 7, 1954 he was united in marriage to Sally Jean Veatch in Burlington, Iowa. The couple were blessed with four children, David, Susan, Nancy and Diane. Darold was preceded in death by his parents, older brother, Jack Stoddard, and his wife, Sally. Survivors include his children, David Stoddard of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Susan Read and her husband Don of Arvada, Colorado, Nancy Butler of Tacoma, Washington, Diane Maske and her husband Martin of Tacoma, Washington; three grandchildren, Micah, Jessica and Daniel; one great granddaughter, Felix; two brothers, Raymond Stoddard and his wife Laura of Huntsville, Alabama, Wayne Stoddard of San Bernardino, California; along with many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa with Pastor Gary Walters officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak. Visitation with the family present will take place on Friday evening, August 21 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. A memorial fund is being established in Darold's name. The Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
