Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Darlene Youngberg, age 86, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society. Darlene was born April 9, 1927 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Paul and Ozella (Maben) Peterson. She was raised in the Essex and Shenandoah area graduating from Shenandoah High School in 1944. Darlene was united in marriage to Willis "Bill" Youngberg on February 8, 1946 in Essex, Iowa. They made their home in Red Oak, Iowa for many years where they owned and operated the Youngberg Standard Station until retiring in 1986. Bill preceded Darlene in death on May 8, 2007. Darlene enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, having coffee with her friends and in her younger days loved riding on Bill's motorcycle. She will be fondly remembered by many as "Grandma Dar". Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Bill; brother: Paul, Jr; sister: Rosie Scheibler; and granddaughter: Tiffanie Gilbert. Survivors include her children: Dennis Youngberg and wife Sharon; Tom Youngberg and friend Margaret Stoldorf; and Sara LeRette and husband Kent all of Red Oak; and Tereasa Moore and husband Ernie of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren: Trisha Gray and husband Andy; Melisa Baier and husband Dr. Fritz; Arron LeRette; and MaKayla LeRette all of Red Oak; and Donell Hattery and husband Ryan of Rio Rancho, NM; great grandchildren: Jordon, Dahlas, Raelynn, Kaylyana, Albany, Hannah, Maggie, Paige, and Bradley; sisters: Charlotte Markt of California and Jody Henningsen of Atlantic, IA; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Carlson and husband Lynn of Green Valley, AZ; Irene Boyer of Shenandoah, IA; and Ruth Youngberg of Midland, TX; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Rescue Unit. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
