Birthplace: Mills County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Darlene Evelyn Williams, age 97, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Darlene was born February 27, 1923 in Mills County, Iowa, the daughter of Clare and Lillian (Clites) Darland. She graduated from Wales Lincoln High School in 1941 and was united in marriage to Lloyd Williams on April 15, 1943 in Tarkio, Missouri. They lived near Nyman, Iowa where they farmed until 1950, then moved to the Stennett, Iowa, area. In 1953, Darlene and Lloyd moved to West Township in Montgomery County, Iowa. Over the years, Darlene was a homemaker, worked for Union Carbide Corporation for 3 years, and worked for Red Oak Community Schools as a cook at the Junior High and Senior High for 11 years retiring in 1988. She and Lloyd moved into Red Oak in 1986. Darlene was a faith filled woman who enjoyed reading her Bible. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting making each of her grandchildren a baby quilt. She loved her family dearly. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Lloyd Williams on December 14, 2006; granddaughter: Julie Lynn Williams; and sister: Marian Abraham. Survivors include her children: James Williams and wife Rosie of Bellevue, Iowa; Robert Williams and wife Sue of Red Oak, Iowa; Donald Williams of Red Oak, Iowa; and LeRoy Williams and wife Laurie of Winchester, Kentucky; grandchildren: Denise Jennings and husband Bill of Malvern, Iowa; Deanna Till of Dubuque, Iowa; Jeff Williams of Omaha, Nebraska; Jennifer Williams of Red Oak, Iowa; Jill Schaefer and husband Wade of Red Oak, Iowa; Cory Williams and wife Amy of Princeton, West Virginia; and Kristin McCleese and husband Jamie of St. Augustine, Florida; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; her twin sister: Pauline Ruppel of Webster City, Iowa; brother-in-law: Joe Williams and wife Jackie of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law: Lorraine Williams of Atlantic, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the First Christian Church including an Eastern Star ceremony. A light lunch will follow the service in the fellowship hall. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
